Want to impress your friends? This dip is amazing and easy to make as an appetizer. I just found the tarama (greek for carp roe) pretty cheap at a local Russian market – Sasha’s – 10 oz for $7.99! Fish eggs are amazingly nourishing – especially if you are trying to get pregnant (rest assured I am not – just putting it out there for those who are!).
Taramosalata
Ingredients
- 10-16 oz tarama (where to buy)
- 1/2 cup Creme Fraiche
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 cup olive oil
Directions
Throw the first 5 ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth. While the food processor is running, slowly add the olive oil in a thin steady stream – almost drop by drop (this is a good arm workout to see how long you can hold your arm up). This will make the dip a mayonnaise consistency. Serve with crostini, crackers or, if you are grain free, sliced radish and carrots. Yum!
