This post is part of HomemadeMommy’s ‘what we ate today’ series. I post what both I ate and what I fed my 3 year old daughter to give this community ideas on how to eat real food and that it is possible to feed a child REAL food.
Today is what I call farm day because not only is it CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) box day (aka veggie day) it is also the Wednesday Farmers Market day. This is when I am able to see what new veggie items I have and plan out what I am going to make for the next week. Cucumbers in the box? Pickles. Eggplant? Babaganoush. Kale – yay! Kale again! I love Wednesdays.
Breakfast:
The Kiddo: yogurt, applesauce, blueberries, flax seeds and cinnamon
me: fried eggs and kraut and kefir
Snack:
The Kiddo: mangoes and cheese
Lunch:
The Kiddo: sourdough cashew butter, butter and honey sandwich, pickles and kraut and babaganoush
me: arugula salad with salmon salad (mayo, etc.), kraut, raw gouda, babaganoush, pickles, some corn chips and salsa mixed with kefir which was surprisingly delicious
Snack:
The Kiddo: Popcorn
me: my latest invention – amazing chocolate macaroons – nom nom
Dinner:
Tacodeli at the Farmers Market – nice relaxing evening!
on tap for tomorrow – I have to make pickles (cucumbers, okra AND peppers) and do something with the beets–I think I will roast and mix them with hardboiled eggs for a good egg salad. I will if I have time also make another batch of babaganoush. I will also probably make kale chips to go with our dinner whatever that will be! See you tomorrow!
