My husband is South African and he has an unusual snack he eats and which my daughter now also loves. It is simply an avocado cut in half with apple cider vinegar and salt and pepper. It tastes absolutely divine! My daughter has been asking to take this to school in her lunch and so I ended up packing it a few times.
It turns out that the apple cider vinegar keeps it from turning too brown in her lunchbox. Bonus!
Simple Avocado Snack or Salad
Ingredients
- 1 avocado
- 1 Tbsp raw apple cider vinegar, divided
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Cut the avocado in half. Remove the seed. Cut into the avocado in a grid like pattern, leaving the avocado in its
shell. In each half pour the apple cider vinegar into the hole where the seed lived. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
Eat with a spoon right out of the shell. Yumminess!

As a Mexican, we make the same snack only difference is we use lemon. Lemon keeps the avocado from browning as well. Ill have to try the vinegar.

I’ve been using lime juice and salt on avocados for years! I’ll have to try the apple cider vinegar – sounds great! Hubby likes to use red pepper flakes on his.
