I love my easy homemade chocolate recipe but wanted to switch things up a bit. I have many folks tell me they don’t like the taste of coconut or they are allergic. I can’t taste the coconut myself but my new found obsession with ghee has motivated me to try this recipe with 100% ghee. No coconut oil! So for all of you coconut haters, try this version. You will not regret it!
I also changed up the method a bit so you do not have to heat up the ghee making this recipe even easier than my other recipe for homemade chocolate. However, this only works if you plan on cooling this in a big block and cutting it up. As you can see from my photo, it doesn’t make the prettiest chocolate molds. But hey, the flavor is amazing!
Even Easier Homemade Chocolate Recipe for the Coconut Haters
Ingredients
- 1 cup ghee – where to buy ghee
- 1/2 cup raw honey or maple syrup
- 1 cup raw cacao powder (you can sub or do 1/2 and 1/2 with carob powder if chocolate bothers you)
- 1/4 tsp salt – where to buy salt
- 1 tsp of vanilla
Directions
Add all the other ingredients to a food processor. Blend until combined.
Place some plastic wrap or parchment paper in a loaf pan to cover the bottom and sides of the pan. Pour the chocolate mixture into the loaf pan and cover with the plastic wrap (gently). Press down or tilt to even out the thickness. I like mine about 1/2 inch thick. You can also spread the mixture onto some parchment paper on a cookie sheet or roasting pan and put the pan in the fridge. This avoids the plastic wrap and works just as well.
Place the loaf pan with the fudge into into the freezer and let it set for about 20 min. Remove and slice into bite sized pieces. I put these in a jar and store in the fridge. I like to store in the freezer for a cold chocolately treat!

Thanks for this! I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it, actually! I love the taste of my homemade chocolate using coconut oil, but I didn’t love the price! Using ghee will make my homemade chocolate much more affordable! Thank you for the wonderful idea!

Another option is to use half coconut oil and half ghee or butter. It has awesome taste and good consistency.

These are awesome! I used half butter and half coconut oil since I didn’t have ghee. I put them in a pipping bag and made bite size pieces that way. It worked great!! Thank you!!

modified a bit and also added organic peanut butter. I use silicone muffin trays and ice cube trays for smaller chocolate pieces. Yumm!
