This homemade lavender honey lip balm is very healing and nourishing for dry, chapped lips. I made these with my daughter as party favors for her 5th birthday party. All the girls loved them!
Lavender Honey Homemade Lip Balm
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 Tbsp shea butter
- 1/2 tsp raw honey
- 1 Tbsp sweet almond oil (I buy this ONE)
- 2 Tbsp beeswax
- 15 drops Lavender essential oil (I buy therapeutic grade essential oils HERE)
- 5 drops Frankincense essential oil (I buy therapeutic grade essential oils HERE)
Equipment You’ll Need
- 12 lip balm tubes
- a large rubber band
Directions
Remove the lids from the lip balm tubes and secure upright with a large rubber band.
Gently melt the coconut oil, shea butter, honey, and beeswax in a double boiler (or in a glass bowl set on top of a sauce pot of simmering water).
Remove from heat and then stir in the sweet almond oil and essential oils.
Quickly pour the melted oil into the upright tubes. You have to move very quickly before the oils start to set.
Allow the lip balm to set and then cap the containers.
The scent is intoxicating!

I love the beauty recipes you´re sharing and I´m trying some of them. But I wonder if there´s a replacement for shea butter. Shea butter and f.ex. aloe vera, avocao oil aren´t possible to use as ingredients if you´re allergic to latex. Do you have an idea for replacements?
Lindsey Gremont says
Thank you! You can use mango butter or even cocoa butter (but that would alter the flavor and scent).

Thank you for your quick ansewer! 🙂 Thats a good idea! I love cocoa butter and will try it. I´m a little sceptical about mango butter because mangos should be avoided with latex allergy. At least for now… because I really miss them. Thank you very much, I will give the cocoa butter a try! 🙂

so i made the lip balm this afternoon. found the directions a little confusing and thought you might like to clarify. the directions don’t say where to add the shea butter or honey. i added the shea butter into the glass to melt but waited on the honey and it didn’t dissolve very well. like the recipe though. thanks!

Hi! I was just about to start this recipe (and was super super excited to do it) but I just realised that the method is incomplete! 🙁
I’ve never made lip balms before so i’ll wait until you post the full thing 😉
Thanks!
Lindsey Gremont says
I am not sure what you mean. The method is complete…did you scroll down further?
Cassandra says
I think the last 2 comments are because you didn’t put in the actual recipe where to add the honey. I’m guessing it gets added to the bowl for melting so it will dissolve.
Lindsey Gremont says
You are right! I just added that!

I just made these and they turned out great! I used lemon oil instead of the lavender and frank. I love the frank but my husband not so much. the honey and lemon are a great combo!
