So many great things happened in the past two weeks, I felt the need to celebrate with a giveaway! I reached 10,000 ‘likes’ on my Homemade Mommy Facebook page and I finally released my eBook, The Homemade Mommy Handbook! This week you can get my eBook as part of the Village Green Network Spring eBook Bundle! There are 30 books for $39! What a great value – you can get my eBook and 29 others for less than $1.50 each!
So what is the giveaway?
The Homemade Mommy Handbook is all about being more confident in your own kitchen and is about a lot more than just recipes. I teach basic cooking techniques and share all of my handy tips and secrets. These are things that you cannot find in any recipe!
What better way to celebrate than to offer all of you a giveaway of my favorite cooking tools valued at over $300?!
In my eBook I give tips and techniques for:
Braising and Stewing
- When using a slow cooker for braising or stewing, sear the meat in advance or you will end up with meat that lacks flavor and is grainy. It is for this reason that slow cookers are not as convenient as they might seem. I find it much easier to use one Dutch oven for the entire cooking process!
Roasting
- How many different recipes have you seen over your lifetime for roasted chicken? They all have different cooking times and oven temperatures and all claim to be the BEST and fail-proof method for roasting a chicken. You might be surprised to learn that there are many conditions that can affect cooking times for roasts. I provide information in the eBook about roasting times and target temperatures so that you can end up with the perfect roast every time no matter which ingredients you add to it! For this you need an instant read thermometer!
Spices
- I share a whole section on herbs and spices in my eBook including information on how to store them, cook with them and what to pair them with. Did you know whole spices maintain freshness (sometimes up to 4 years!) longer than ground spices? Toasted whole spices really add a huge punch of flavor as well! To grind your own you will need a spice grinder!
NOTE: This is NOT a sponsored giveaway — I am paying for the prize myself, and will have it mailed to the lucky winner.
Here is a peek inside The Homemade Mommy Handbook eBook – the pages are streamlined and organized for ease of use and printing.
If you want to order my eBook today you can get instant access to it now via the Spring eBook Bundle along with 29 other eBooks for only $39 or you can buy it alone for a limited time discounted price of $14.96.

Several years ago, before I was really into cooking, I recall a friend of mine mentioning that he was going to make ‘boeuf bourguignon’
and desperately wished he owned a Le Creuset dutch oven for this
purpose. Not having a clue of what any of that is, I sought more
information, and found that this search planted a seed of desire to learn to cook. I
still haven’t made that dish, but have pulled off many delicious
recipes over the years. As I learn more about cooking and health, I add
more items to my ever-growing cooking tools “wish list”. Le Creuset
dutch oven is on it, along with a quality herb grinder. Because this
memory was triggered, I would have to finally make the Boeuf using the
dutch oven, and utilize the herb grinder for the thyme, and the
thermometer to confirm temperature.
Lindsey @ Homemade Mommy says

Linda Schuck says

Thank you for creating the opportunity to win!!

I’ve had this on my wishlist for a year. I recently tossed out my non-stick pans and am using just a cast iron griddle pan. I would love this for when I make Primal chili and roast beef. What an amazing giveaway!
Emily says
I really could use the dutch oven, because I currently have old Teflon pans that are starting to chip, and I don’t want to use them because they are toxic…. The only other pans I have is one cast iron skillet, and a recently purchased Pyrex pot. I keep hoping to find a used dutch oven, but they are so expensive.
AnnMarie Mincieli Creedon says
My mom has one of these and I’m so jealous! I make stews all the time and this would be the perfect way to cook them! By the way, I thicken my stews and chili with whole juice made from celery, carrots and tomato paste in the Blendtec. It adds lots of flavor and thickens without grains!

As I am excitedly getting married in 10 weeks AND buying a new home, these items would be such wonderful additions to my kitchen, as I do not have any of the three! I make all my meals at home, most often from scratch with wholesome organic, fresh ingredients. I would use the dutch oven to create delicious, nutrient dense stews & soups and for braising meats and caramelizing vegetables. I would use the thermometer to check the temperature of the meats I cook to ensure safety (something I’ve been needing but never have purchased as of yet). I would use the spice grinder to create my own homemade spice blends in conjunction with my dehydrator, and also for combining my favorite superfood seeds (chia, flax & hemp) to add to my morning shake and baked goods 🙂 Thank you for this opportunity, Homemade Mommy! You are such an inspiration!

Amber Anderson says
April 30th is my 1 year anniversary of being a full time step mommy. Once tasked with shopping for young kids, and their Daddy, I started to truly pay attention to the garbage that is in processed foods. Little by little, I began to change our diet. I researched, read, studied, compared, and did everything I could to start making our meals from scratch. This way I KNOW what is going into our bodies. This has been a challenge, but one I have taken on without hesitation or regret. Most recently I made sloppy joes from scratch. No canned sauce here! All organic ingredients from my cabinet. And that felt good. To see the expressions on the kids faces, hear the “silence” as my family devoured this meal made it even more worth it. We are even planning a garden this summer for organic veggies and I will be canning the harvest. I am so excited!! But back to the topic at hand. With a dutch oven, there are so many more recipes I could do. I don’t have one now, and little by little we are building our kitchen supplies. I would love to have this to further my cooking skills, recipe bank, and healthy lifestyle. I’d even invite you to dinner if ever you ended up in WI and cook something with the amazing dutch oven I won from you! lol Anyway, regardless if I win or not I want you to know that I thoroughly enjoy your site, tips, recipes, blogs, and all of the great information you provide. I have learned much from you and will continue to follow you. Thank you for doing what you do and being a guide to folks like me. You are appreciated.

I would jump for joy if I could have a dutch oven (again)! Prior to my divorce, I cooked EVERYTHING for my little one…it was so very easy to make healthy meals from steal cut oats to roasted veggies and curries galore! Perhaps the hardest part of the divorce (this is just for a laugh, but I do miss it so) was having to leave the dutch oven behind! I have never had a grinder for herbs and seeds, that would be great as well as I use a pestle and mortar to grind my flax, chia, and hemp seeds. Also as a french press coffee user, I would love to have the ability to grind fresh beans very fine. Fingers and toes crossed!
