Weekly Giveaway #4
People always ask me what books they should get to help them with their real food journey. I decided for this final weekly giveaway to give you two of my favorites and one BRAND new one which just came out yesterday!
1) The Art of Fermentation by Sandor Katz – I heard this brilliant man speak at the Weston A Price Conference last year and he rocks. He is spot on with all his information and the book is an amazing resource for anyone – newbies and experts alike.
2) Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon – as you know from my real food story, this is the book that changed everything for me and my family. It speaks for itself – if you do not have this book yet I highly recommend you enter this giveaway and if you don’t win, invest in this book! It is full of recipes and vital information about traditional diets.
3) The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby & Child Care by Sally Fallon – this is a brand new book that just got released yesterday. I am about to receive my review copy and I am very excited to read it. It is basically an NT book focused on babies and kids – what an amazing combination!
I will announce the giveaway winner on Friday. This is the final weekly giveaway from this round – I hope you enjoyed them and if you won anything I hope you enjoy your item!
Alright – time to enter! FYI: This is not a sponsored giveaway — I am paying for the prize myself, and will have it mailed to the lucky winner.

I’d love to have these books on my shelf – as a type I diabetic, hypothyroid, and gluten intolerant mother of an 8 month old I have endured conventional “treatment” for a long time. Since becoming aware of the WAP traditional diet and changing my eating patterns my health has improved dramatically, to the point that my little boy was considered extremely high risk for birth defects, yet was perfectly healthy when born. He has enjoyed a complete adherence to the diet and recommendations for babies, and went from a 0% growth chart to 100% in 6 months with the strength and cerebral development of a much older baby, despite being 1 month early. We are on an extremely tight budget and right now I request the books I need from the library, but having them here to refer to at any time would be such a blessing!
Cathy D says
Thank you for the chance to win these books. I would really appreciate the opportunity to win these books as I am in the struggle of my life to win the battle with morbid obesity. Born to a homesteading family, I was raised on wholesome, home-raised foodstuffs from the garden, fresh goat’s milk, & meat that we raised (and named) ourselves. When I was just a young teen my mother had to take an outside job and eventually opened a cafe with my grandmother. I see now that was a turning point in my health, and while I had once been an extremely active, athletic child, I began gaining weight slowly over time. I was still active in college and for several years past college, but the weight kept creeping upward with the passing of each additional year. It wasn’t until the past 4 years or so that I have realized that my health & weight issues stem from my introduction into the world of convenience foods when my Mom stopped having time to prepare meals for the family because she was too busy cooking for everyone else’s! Rather than sitting down at the table for a family meal, we sat down at the cafe for unlimited soda, hamburgers & french fries fried in vegetable oil, do-it-yourself pizza, etc. They say ignorance is bliss and by golly, it indeed is! I became a blissfully unawares addict to fast, convenience foods & a chronic abuser of soda.
While I have taken great strides in regaining my health, now going out of my way to buy raw grass-fed milk, yogurt, & cheese, even though I have to drive 3 hours to find it, and once again raising pastured beef with little grain fed (It’s hard to convince some people (parents) that you don’t have to gorge them on grain after years of being indoctrinated with that mentality!!), I still have a long, long way to go. I have two goals currently, that is to incorporate more fermented goods into my diet to repair my digestive health & strengthen my immunity, and to reduce the grain in my diet. Winning these books would allow me to better educate myself so that I could continue my journey back to the vibrant health that I had as a child.
Incidentally, I would really appreciate the Nourishing Traditions book of Baby & Childcare as my niece just had a baby who is allergic to all formula as well as cow’s milk and I would love to share that book with her and hope to influence her to choose better quality, nourishing foods as well.
Thank you for your consideration!!
Kate says
